Memory Lane Cafe (and Nightclub) located at 4220 N. State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes, has been a staple in the community for a while now. Its a place where party goers can go and feel welcomed and at home. This is why it comes as a shock to many to hear that Memory Lane Cafe will be closing their doors. Yes, Memory Lane will be closing down to the public. The owner, Mr. Orel Powel will be retiring on Monday, September 4th (Labor Day.)
Its quiet understandable that after running a business for 25 years that Mr. Powell would want to step back from the grinding hustle of restaurant – nightclub ownership. But, regardless of this fact, folks are in disbelief that their anchor and lighthouse beam will not be there to welcome them on nights when they want to unwind and shake off the stresses of the work week.
I spoke with Mr. Powell abouit the closing and he mentioned that he would like to continue the Saturday night Party, just maybe at another location. He said he will be looking for a different venue to continue the Saturday night fiesta.
We wish Mr. Powell and the staff of Memory Lane Cafe all the best in their endeavors. There will be a retiremennt party for Orell today, September 4th.
